The occurrence of polygraph testing in South Africa is rising, with employers, employees, and private individuals relying on test results to facilitate the swift and accurate resolution of disputes and conflicts, and the allaying or confirmation of suspicion. Some of the most frequent instances in which businesses and individuals require the use of polygraph testing include:

Pre-employment polygraph examination: An employment candidate is tested to check his/her integrity and to rate his/her value system. The examinee is also tested for honest conduct at previous workplaces. Armed with the results of the polygraph examination, businesses are better able to make more accurate employment decisions, and protect against possible future losses or misconduct.
Periodic polygraph examination: Employees are tested on a periodic basis for honesty in their working environment. Various kinds of investigative techniques, such as forensic assessment interviewing, are used by our trained investigators and polygraph examiners.
Specific polygraph examination: When a specific incident occurred, like theft, fraud, hijacking, robbery, etc., the examinees are tested for their knowledge and/or possible involvement regarding the incident.
Note: According to South African legislation, polygraph results may not be used as a conclusive interpretation of guilt or innocence, but may well serve as an aggravating factor in support of other evidence. Where needed, CSI Africa’s polygraphists will testify on behalf of relevant parties to ensure the swift and accurate conclusion of sensitive situations.
