As 2014 comes to a rather speedy close, we’re not only launching a new bevy of services, but a completely new department under which those services will be managed: CSI Operations (or “CSI Ops”, if TV vernacular is to be used). This new department will be CSI Africa’s foray into the high-end security sector, and comes after months of planning and legwork.
Why CSI Operations is different
With more than 9000 registered security companies, South Africa has the largest private security industry in the world. The industry includes the more than 400,000 registered and active private security guards (exceeding the combined numbers of the South African Police Service and army). Of these security companies and their personnel, only a few have access to resources to provide intelligence-backed high-end services.
Over the years we’ve worked diligently to gain access to these necessary intelligence resources. We’ve used our background screening and credential verification capabilities as a filter to provide us with a selection of the best qualified and capable security teams. And, we’ve listened intently to our clients and other entities to determine how these resources might be put to the best possible use.
The result is a top-of-the-line technology-driven department capable of providing intelligence, safety, and peace of mind. The services assigned to CSI Operations include investigations, electronic surveillance and debugging, undercover agents, close protection services, and armed escorts.
Investigations
Through the Investigations unit, CSI Africa provides private investigations, forensic audits, and criminal record checks. With more than 12 years’ experience we’ve developed the efficiency required to handle investigations relating to fraud, insurance, and criminal cases. Close relationships with the South African police service, attorney generals, and state prosecutors ensure the smooth transition into the criminal and / or civil process. Our aim is to minimise acquittals due to technicalities or insufficient evidence.
Electronic Surveillance (and sweeping / de-bugging)
CSI Operations’ Electronic Surveillance unit specialises in both surveillance and counter-surveillance. With the aid of cutting-edge equipment, our expert team of surveillance operatives assist individuals, businesses, NGOs, and government organisations to safeguard their business interests and to obtain proof where suspicion exists. CSI Africa carries out all surveillance operations with full permission from our clients, and in accordance with Act 127 of 1992, the Interception and Monitoring Prohibition Act.
Undercover Agents
CSI Operations’ Undercover unit assists businesses by infiltrating, and subsequently identifying, staff members and groups suspected of illicit activity within the organisation. Through this service we also evaluate and test internal control and security policies to give your organisation the ammunition needed to ensure a safe and crime-free working environment.
Close Protection
The Close Protection unit has been created to provide high net worth individuals, VIPs, and other individuals who, as a result of their status or position, experience constant potential threat, with the protection they need. This service is driven by highly skilled and qualified professionals, and is available for both short-term and long-term contract periods. It includes risk assessments, security audits, perimeter analyses, and strategic forward planning.
Armed Escorts
CSI Operations provides highly trained and well-equipped security personnel to transport high value assets. Every member of our Armed Escort unit is subject to frequent in-depth security checks and vetting procedures to both ensure the integrity of this service, and the cargo entrusted to us for the duration of its transport.
Where 2014 was, in retrospect, the year of new beginnings (CarerCheck, myScreening, CSI Ops), 2015 will be the year where these services will be driven to further our aim of promoting increased honesty and efficiency in the workplace, and to reduce loss as a result of criminal activity.
